Ward O. 2.

My dear Rev Mr T.W. Walters,

I take the pleasure of writing these few lines to you hoping you and all are keeping well as I am going on nicely and I am pleased to say that I was transferred to Leicester on the 18th of this month and dear Sir I must thank you ever so much for your kindness to me in getting me transferred here for I am much more at home here but I shall be pleased when I can get to dear old Whitwick once more but I hope it will be for good.  For I don’t want to see another day like the first of July for many a poor man fell that day and I have thanked the Lord for what I have got and I pray to the Lord every night to end the war and for the wounded to be got into safety.

I remain yours truly etc.  AF  please excuse my left handwriting

In envelope addressed to The Rev T.W. Walters, Vicar of Whitwick, Leicestershire.
