Dear G.J.S.
I have been ordered home to train C.O’s to Command Battns for the spring offensive. I would have wished that some other had been selected for the honour but then it is D.H. told Vesey to tell me that he had selected me from all the Brigadiers in the country that he attached the greatest importance to it & that he would give me a command the moment the course was over. Will you be coming to London in the near future? And how are you & how is the General & Lady W****? Will you please tell Lady W*** that Freddy Maitland, her cousin, is one of my *** lecturers **** to-day. He has done excellent work with me in the Brigade, as an Instructor of his Battn when training or ***** behind the line and he badly wanted a rest. All my Instructors all Regulars of some standing I am pleased to say.
