All the notebooks were written on the right hand page and additions, photos, cartoons or other documents were added to the left hand page.

21 Sept. 1916.          The men were digging trenches all night near quarry.  1 wounded.  More rain, we went forward to Guinchy telegraph, the dug out under the railway, the men were all out digging assembly trenches at quarry.
