415 – District Court-Martial –

OVER-ISSUES – PAY –
It has been brought to notice that over-issues of cash are constantly being made to men by Officers Commanding Squadrons, Companies, etc., the failure of Company Officers to deduct the allotments of pay to which men are liable being the chief cause of such over-issues.
It is pointed out that Company Officers are entirely responsible for correctly paying the men of their companies, and if they are in any doubt as to the correct nett daily rate of pay to which any man is entitled reference should be made to the Regimental Paymaster.
In some cases it would appear that doubt still exists as to whether allotments of pay are compulsory for married soldiers; it is therefore explained that the allotment of 6d. per day must be deducted from the pay of such soldiers, and though an appeal may have been made against such a deduction under Army Order 475 of 1914, recovery must be continued until the War Office decision cancelling or reducing the amount of the allotment has been received.
A copy of “Instructions relating to Pay Duties,” issued with Army Orders, dated 1st May, should be in the possession of all Officers Commanding Squadrons, Companies etc.
