262 Extracts from Northern Command Orders

“LONDON GAZETTE” –

The following extracts from the Second Supplement to the  “London Gazette” of Friday, the 16th April, 1915, is published for information:-

The Northumberland Fusiliers

22nd Battalion (3rd Tyneside Scottish). – Hugh Gunn to be temporary Captain.  Dated 1st April, 1915.

Northern Command Order No.619.         

CASKS –

            All Units in the Command will return to Ordnance Officer, York, all Casks, Vat, in their possession.  They are urgently required for return to Woolwich.

C.R.N.C. 49583 (O.S.).  Northern Command Order No.623.

N.C.O. AND MEN EMPLOYED WITH HEADQUARTERS UNITS –

            All Non-Commissioned Officers and men employed with Headquarter Units or posted to fill vacancies in the Establishment of Headquarter Units, will be held supernumerary to the Establishment of the Unit from which they are drawn.

GLOVES AND MITTS – WOOLEN –

            The issue of Gloves or Mitts, Woollen, to Recruits on enlistment, or to men on re-enlistment, will cease forthwith. 

Gloves or Mitts will not be taken by Drafts or Units proceeding to join the Expeditionary Force (Command Order No. 224, dated 16th February, 1915, to be amended accordingly).
